10 years ago I went to Brazil for the first time… I fell in love there with brasilian music and I brought home more than 20 CDs. In time collection grew, and now I’m still a big of of brasilian music…

At time to time, a brasilian singer comes to Ljubljana, Slovenia. Not so often as I would want to. I have already seen here plenty of them, including Caetano Veloso. Gilberto Gil is also quite regular, as he was in Ljubljana last time in 2003. And it was nice 🙂 That was the year, when he was appointed as a minister of culture in Brasil. Last year, in 2008, he resigned. So, it was now time to revisit the concert…

About the concert… one has to admit, that at 67 years of age, he knows how to throw a good concert. He started slowly, and he went into more folk songs. Actually, if listening the last albums, it was that. Personally, I would want him to focus more on his earlier albums, but thats just me… This was an excellent concert, supported by great supporting band (including his son). Really, the songs he played were incredible mixture of different styles and sounds, of course, focusing on nordestino music… 2 hours of pure music. Nothing more, nothing less. Very good Gil.
