… today i had a long drive, 8h planned wit a car, 800km… from Geneve, Switzerland to Slovenia. As it was an excellent day, i decided in Chamonix to do it “hard way” and not to take a shortcut via Mont Blanc Tunnel, but… take a long and high way over Col du Grand St. Bernard (2460m)… from Chamonix road goes over 2 additional high passes, Col du Montant (1450m) and Col du Forclaz (1550m) before it drops to Martigny, at around 500m of altitude… It was incredible, but these road are heaven for cyclist… all roads were full of them.

Anyway… Martigny is also a start of 16th stage of Tour de France 2009, that will take riders over Grand and Petit Cols du St. Bernard… And there are signs of forthcoming Tour on every corner. This stage will go from Switzerland to Italy and then to France… LINK to Le tour 2009

And who was training there??!?!??!?!? All alone (with his team car) but nobody else than Mr. Livestrong, Lance 🙂 And he was going fast…

ps: he actually overtook us on a way down to Aosta, while we stopped to look for marmots, but i was to slow to grab a camera… 🙁
