Beautiful autumn day and nothing to do? As I live in a beautiful mountain valley, i decided to cycle towards Zelenci and lake Jasna in Kranjska gora. Mojstrana (actually already Jesenice) is connected with Kranjska gora with great cycling route that extends another 60km in Italy! But my goal today is not so far away, just to see some autumn colours in the valley.
Zelenci Springs is a nature reserve near the town of Kranjska Gora, in the far northwestern corner of Slovenia. It is the source of the Sava Dolinka River, a tributary of the Danube. At Zelenci Springs, water from underground Nadiža Creek (originating in the Planica Valley) re-emerges through the porous bottom of a 2 m deep lake, whose waters are noted for their deep, brilliant green. The spring and its surrounding area are named after this colour (zelena barva = green colour).
Second stop was lake Jasna, which is the name of two, artificial and connected lakes in the vicinity of Kranjska gora. History of this lake is long, as the first swimming facilities here were opened in 1911 and enlarged in 1929. In the last years, lake was divided into two parts and cleaned. One similarity remains with history – water is still very cold, even during the summer months. Some heroes still decided to jump and swim in it 🙂
