Beijing Olympic Park is where the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games and Paralympics took place. The park was designed to contain ten venues, the Olympic Village, and other supporting facilities. Afterward, it was transformed into a comprehensive multifunctional activity center for the public. And interestigly, it is still quite alive today. In two 2022 this will be a center of the Olympic Games.
In the southern part there are some spectacular buildings, such as National Stadium (Bird’s Nest) and Aquatics Center (Water Cube). To the north, just near the Olympic Forest Parc there is the Sightseeing Tower. It is 6th tallest sightseeing tower in China and is composed of five independent towers, which go up as high as 246 meters. From a distance, the towers look like nails, hence the nickname Giant Nails. Well… to me it looks more like a landing site for alien spaceships.
