There are many museums in Paris. And some are worthy of a visit, others are not. But when someone mentions musuem in Paris, first on my mind are Louvre and Orsay. However, this is not all. Besides other great museums, there is also a Rodin museum. In a beautiful house and garden its possible to see a museum, or just wander around its great garden (for 1 EUR). And that is where his best know works are displayed, sorta best-of.
One of the highlights of the museum are The gates to hell. A commission to create a portal for Paris’ planned Museum of Decorative Arts was awarded to Rodin in 1880. Approx. 10 years later the work obtained its current form, however it was never finished. But it was a foundation for many other famous works by Rodin, like The thinker, The kiss, The Three Shades, Eve, Adam,…
Eventhough that this Rodin garden and museum are not listed among top 10 must see places to see in Paris, they are still very much worth a visit. It is located just a few steps away from Les Invalides, and its garden its quiet and peaceful place (especially when its warm outside, to just sit somewhere in the garden. I highly recommend a visit in spring or early autumn, when flowers are plentiful…
