Jof di Miezegnot

oktober 14th, 2006 MatevzH 3 comments

Well, we had great weather all week… So, let’s go on a short trekking on saturday… to Jof di Miezegnot , 2093 meters high, with interesting remains of First world war (Isonzo front).

Location:

Of course, weather went sour, with clouds (and fog) at quite low level… So, one of the companions was also a doggy called Lucifer, or shortly Feri… maybe he had something to with the weather… ? So, instead of excellent views all around we got more that we bargained for… cold weather with dense fog :) Visibility at the top was around 5 meters :(

[EDIT: next day it was sooooooooo nice]

So, no nice panoramic photos, just some Feri-ones…

Back in the mountains…

november 28th, 2004 MatevzH No comments

One week after, i’m again back in the mountains – again i went to Vrsic. Due to bad snow conditions i decided to go on a short walk with Iztok and his two lovely dogs. Well, there was snow, just the “right” slopes were left uncovered. Anyway, it was a nice, not too long walk (from Vrsic you have to walk first a little bit up, and than it flattens out), and dogs were a blast.

Didn’t take too many photos, here are just some…

Until next time… hopefully i’ll be already skiing…

First contact with snow this winter

november 21st, 2004 MatevzH No comments

Rado called me on friday evening. How about Vrsic, climbing and skiing – tommorow, around 7:30? And i said yes. After long summer i had a real difficulty finding all the equipment, especially crampons. But soon (well, we were 30 minutes late) we managed to get going. The road to the highest slovenian road pass (some 1600m above sea level) was passable, and there was hardly any snow on the road. And a lot of snow beside the road. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough of snow (well, it could be still done),, so we decided to leave our skis and snowboard in the car and not to go on the climbing route. As expected, there was snow, just not on the right places (except in the last straight), but still it was a nice walk on a beautiful november day.
